Child obesity is spiraling out of control, and our kids, our economy and our quality of life are at risk. Helping schools serve real food may be the most promising way to end child obesity -- but it simply can't happen unless Congress invests in healthier food in this month's Child Nutrition Act.
Please tell your legislators to help schools serve real food, strengthen nutrition standards and buy directly from local farms. To email your legislators, please click here.

Slow Food Baltimore is back, and we plan on being stronger than ever!

A new board has been formed and we are still looking for a few strong members. If you are considering a more expanded role in Slow Food Baltimore Chapter you can contact Liz at: liz@slowfoodbaltimore.com.

      What local chapters do

    • Create projects and plan initiatives and events that fill a need in the community, and engage in at least one Slow Food USA program or project area, including biodiversity, education, food policy and advocacy, food access and security, and producer-co-producer connections (Terra Madre).

    • Raise public awareness of local, seasonal and sustainably grown food, and support local food producers.

    • Create a large and diverse leadership team that values shared responsibility and is able to cultivate member enthusiasm and participation.

    • Work collaboratively with other chapters and local partners to share resources and ideas.

    • Convene an annual meeting with all members during which leadership team elections or confirmations are held.

    • Communicate with the regional governor and national office informed about your chapter's activities, and comply with organizational policies and protocol.
